GENERAL INFORMATION
Owners Alex Kime and daughter Gretchen started the ranch in 1997 with 8 horses. Today, they have grown to over 30 horses and are well known for providing the best horseback riding in Alaska. Specializing in "True Alaskan Hospitality," guests comment on the serenity they experience at the ranch. Their care of the horses, the "pioneer" appearance of the lodge, their adventurous spirit and professionalism of the business have gained them television appearances of such programs as Country Music’s "Hit Trip", Fox’s "Bacherloretes in Alaska, Larry Csonka’s North to Alaska Show" and Paul Gray’s ‘The Alaska show’. Alaska Horsemen Trail Adventures was chosen ‘Outstanding Business in Tourism’ on the Kenai Peninsula in 2002.
What We offer: We offer "outback" outerwear for weather protection along with "cowboy" hats or riding helmets if desired. (Parents should supply children with rain gear). Boots or hiking shoes and gloves are recommended, as is a water bottle. Guests should bring a camera and binoculars are useful for sheep and bear viewing. Saddle horn bags available for that gear.
Riding Restrictions: Little kids need to ride too but we are afraid we cannot put them in the saddle with you. We do offer some "walk around" rides with the parents walking along side the child. On our milder trails, we can lead the child’s horse on the trail ride. Please communicate with us by phone for kids under 10. Height and weight should be proportionate for your comfort and proper saddle positioning. Please let us know rider's sizes so we can have the right horse for you.
Riding experience is not required; we will work with you to help you understand the basics. Please let us know your desires so we can help choose the right trip for you.
Trip Sizes: We like to have no more then 6 on trail rides. However, sometimes a bit larger group rides can be accommodated.
Reservations: Reservations are recommended to assure you a spot. We accept Visa and M.C., cash and checks. After May first, payment is required for booking, before May first a 50% Deposit is required. We have a 30-day cancellation policy on most trips.
